You have lots of opportunities to explore Bruthen and our wider district, whether you want to stroll, hike, ride, or drive.
Bruthen Town Walks
So park your car and soak up Bruthen’s country charm and historical character. You cant get lost, and no matter where you go, the cafes and local watering holes are only just around the corner.
Bruthen walking trails
There are a number of loop walks available. The shortest is the Easy Magic Walk which is 600 metres return, designed to be widely accessible regardless of ability or walking experience. By comparison the Plane Crash Loop is 5.3km return, with short steep hills and some bushwalking experience recommended.
East Gippsland Rail Trail
The Rail Trail covers a total of 96km between Bairnsdale and Orbost. Bruthen is perfectly situated along on the Rail Trail for a lunchtime break, or overnight stop.

Fairy Dell Flora Reserve – Parks Victoria
On the outskirts of Bruthen, this reserve is a lovely spot to visit, with a picnic area and walking trail.
Note: Dogs and firewood cutting are not permitted within the reserve.
